Courage! Who has it?

Everyone who wishes to run for political office should be required to read "Profiles in Courage". Maybe they will learn that at times doing the unpopular thing, but right thing is more important then partisan politics. When this is done you have not only shown courage, but integrity and leadership. Good luck....

Sarah Palin Not 'Electable For Presidency,' Says GOP Operative Who Helped Reelect Ronald Reagan

Sarah Palin is a joke as a politician. When compared to other female heavyweight politicians shen is nothing but a sideshow act. Even within her own party novice political candidates such as Carly Fiorina and Meg Whitman, are both more professional and have more of a presidential stature then Sarah. Then compare all of them to a Hillary Clinton and one sees a real leader. Sarah stick to being a sideshow act and entertainer.... Make your millions and keep us laughing...

MSNBC Wants Keith Olbermann Mea Culpa

So I guess it is ok for Keith to bash right wingers for the ratings but for him to practice his free speech by making contributions to those he believes in is not ok for MSNBC. MSNBC is supposed to be the alternative to FOX but they now want to hide the fact that their commentators support Democrats. Hypocrites.... If FOX suspended the commentators on their channel who contributed to GOP causes, they wouldn't have anyone on the air. And shame on Rachel Maddow for her remarks. Call Bloomberg Keith - between you and Charlie Rose you should put a dent in MSNBC's rating....

The Dems had the chance.

Well the DEMS had the chance to make the changes they wanted to do when they campaigned in 2008 but failed. They had the power to pass legislation that would have benefited all Americans, but failed. They were afraid to confront the Republicans when there was no reason to be afraid because again, they had the power. Instead of having the guts the get things done they were dropping back and punting instead of going for the win. And why? Because they were afraid of alienating the right wing and the independents, and afraid of losing the power. Well guess what? You lost the power because you were afraid.

All the progressives (yours included), blue dogs and liberals had to realize they were on the same team and not fight each other and self destruct. It seemed like a sense of loyalty left the room and was replaced by jealousy and power grabs. Well your bit of the power was being in power and having the chance of getting things done. Heck the one thing that you got accomplished; health care reform; no matter if it was flawed was something to rally around and you all ran like chickens without heads. You all gave up on the people who gave you the chance to do some good, and you let us down.

On the other hand the Republicans (the party in the minority) acted like they owned the Dems even while the Dems held the majority. This is a party that stuck behind one of the worst presidents in American history and you, the Dems, still didn't realize who you were dealing with. Maybe it is time to take a lesson from them in regards to loyalty. Luckily they didn't gain the majority in both houses because the remaining Democrats would be given shovels to dig their graves. Now the only thing that we all can hope for is that both parties have learned that neither have a mandate - and by working together they might get something done.

Peggy Noonan: Sarah Palin A 'Nincompoop' For Reagan Reduction

Fantastic commentary Peggy Noonan. Although I am not a fan of RR of SP your points are well taken on on the button. RR did earn his bones in the political world, and that of course started a the head of the Actor's union. The most important statement is that he fullfilled his obligations as a governor before persuing the Presidency. SP is a failure as a mayor of a rinky dinky town, a failure as a governor (a quitter), a failure as a VP candidate; or should I say that was John McCain's failure. As a publicity hound - well she has that down and is now trying to teach her daughter the same. I do wish her much success as a Twitter - 140 characters or less seems to be her intelligence limit, and that's giving her too much credit.

Five Ways the Democrats Can Avoid a Catastrophe and Pull Off the Mother of All Upsets

Micheal Moore is right; it is time for politicians to speak the language of the people not of the special interest groups. During campaigns they all speak as if the feel the working man's pain - well now you have to work to get the working man's vote. We need politicians with guts and willing to have courage... Every year before a campaign they (the politicans) should read "Profiles in Courage" to be reminded that they are there in office to do the people's business and to have the guts to make unpopular decisions.

No fire - no big mo....

What is the problem with Democrats/Progressives? Why are they so down on their elected officials and the president? Why are they letting the party of NO take control again? A party that did nothing when they had the power - have been obstructionists while the Democrats have the power and now are trying to convince the people that the Democrats are the ones bad for the people. A party who could care less about the unemployed; those without health care or inadequate health care; would let the older citizens on social security lose all their money if they had privatized their investments, and they continue to point the finger at Democrats and President Obama and say "they are the problem." The sad part about all this is that Democrats are even believing the GOP's rhetoric.

Must you all be reminded of the last administration and all the things they did to divide and instill fear in the people of this country? What a short memory people have about the "non-weapons of mass destruction" - a unilateral war (still going on) to topple a tyrant who had nothing to do with 9/11 while the real villain goes untouched. The way the last administration made the USA a hated country in the rest of the civilized world. These are just a few issues I will list and I am sure most of you could add to the list - but honestly I am getting depressed.

Then think about the joy and happiness when Obama won the presidency against all odds. Just because of who he is and his upbringing he was demonized by these same people who are claiming to be God-fearing, God-loving but hate all people who are different. What President Obama has done in his almost 2 years surpasses all that never was done in both Bush I and Bush II 12 total years of reign. Although some liberals/progressives have not been happy at times with him because they feel he hasn't gone to the left enough; must be patient. When you sit down and analyze what has been done you will realize it is far better then the alternative.

Unless you want to be controlled by the GOP, Beck-ise, Palinites, Rushskys and so on then be the negative lot that you seem to be at the moment. Even when Bush II was at his worse his party stuck behind him as their leader. The Democrats want to eat their leaders once they disagree with them. Maybe, just maybe, the Democrats are happy with being the losing party; but if not then they better start flexing their political muscles (while they still have them) and get out there and support their candidates and keep the party in control. All your moaning and groaning instead of talking things up positively is harming the party and the candidates chances. If independents see that Democrats are bad mouthing Democrats then what are they to think. You have to get out there and build the BIG MO again or else you will be forced to drink from the TEA PARTY - just think how they would govern or not govern.

Can't you see the Hipocracy???

www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/08/30/100830fa_fact_mayer

I really don't know about anyone else but I am sick and tired that the Democrats are not up in arms at what the opponents throw at them. This is an organization - whether called the GOP or Tea Party led by - supposed reformed drug addicts (Rush and Beck) and a part time politician/publicity hound (Palin), who only spew hatred and fear. They are also financed by millionaires whose only concerned it to keep more of the money they have made of the American people. These are hate mongers and bigots, and those who blindly follow them should ask themselves the question: are they of the blue blood that these bigots are made of?

Rush, Beck and Palin are making millions upon millions off of these sheep that they say they represent. Sure they will keep saying they represent the "working class people" as long as those lemmings still send them money. Democrats have to start forming a fist and not turn the other cheek. They are the party of governing and taking care of the people. They are the ones who will take care of the downtrodden and young and old in times of need. The other side takes care of themselves under the guise of the people. I am all for political debate but when it becomes hypocrisy it is similar to perjuring yourself on a witness stand. Tell a lie and eventually it will be come the true - spew hate and you have accomplished division not people working together. And mostly if you have a problem with some type of legislation or way of governing - come up with a solution - it is easy to demonize but hard to have a thought to the problem.

These false, money hungry, egotistical leaders of the far right will topple just like the phony
evangelist claiming to be close to God. It is a shame that one day after they are exposed for the fakes they are - many sheep will not believe they followed leaderless leaders. Wake up - can't you see the hypocrisy?

Glenn Beck Rally Will Test Strength Of Conservative Lightning Rod

Isn't it a great country that gives and ex-drug addict the abiltiy to gain such fame or infamy. A country of which he mocks and claims is so unfair. Unfair to multimillionaires like him; a man who indentifies with the average working man and woman. Gee how many average working men and women make $40million a year. Sure he cares - about taking your money and keeping his. Wake up and see him for the entertainer that he is, stop making him a god..... Just another wolf in sheeps clothing....

Who is defending BP?

To those who for some reason of another are defending BP actions should be put into a padded cell. This is a company with more violations then the number one scofflaw in a major city as New York or Philadelphia. This company has no regard for the well being of the people or communities whose territory it exploits.
What is happening now in the Gulf is just a repeat of what BP was somewhat responsible for years ago in Alaska under the guise of the Exxon Valdez mishap. Even though Exxon was the company name on the tanker it was BP's job to contain the spill. Apparently they didn't know then and still don't know how to contain a spill. They are pretty much the Madoff of the oil drilling industry. Mr. Madoff was an investment advisor who really didn't invest and BP is an oil drilling who doesn't know the proper way of how to drill. Both were just looking at what their profit would be ..... Money first... People way last....
Listen to the following interview with Greg Palast; who has been investigating BP since the Valdezs incident. Why are we not hearing this on the main stream newscasts....

Tea Party Calls Chris Matthews Documentary A 'Left-Wing Hit Piece,' Urges Hardball Sponsors To Boycott

Isn't it amazing that the far right believes that freedom of speech only pertains to them. Rusky Limbaugh can say some of the most teasonous statements about President Obama they feel it is OK and they have to right to say them of according to freddom of speech I would guess they do. But when a true journalist like Chris Matthews unvails the intersanctums of the Tea Partiers the pitch a fit. They claim to be for the democratic way - but when they are critized the only way for them is totalitarian/dictatorship.

Where is the anger at the top?

It is about time that we see some shoe banging on the podium anger from Pres. Obama. I know it is not a normal thing for him to do but sometimes a person has to break away from the ordinary just to keep people on their toes. If Pres. Obama was an actor he would be typecast as the same calm character all the time. If it is one thing that most actors complain about - is it that of being typecast. Getting the same parts all the time could be quite lucrative; if that is all you want; but if you want to expand you have to break out of the mold you created.

If Pres. Obama wants to be known as the most powerful man in the world then at time he has to put the hammer down and act like it. Americans want to have a "Make my day" type of line to come out of their leader. Not that we want to be a world wide bully; but just because we are still a superpower we shouldn't be a pushover because we don't want to show our muscles.

The mess with BP is such a time that our muscles should be flexed and Pres. Obama is the one who should be doing that. So far no penalties have been imposed on what BP is doing to our country and countrymen and women. Sure there are projections that they will lose money in the long run; but if we don't punish them they will come back and become richer then ever. Where is the call for a countrywide boycott of BP from some of our leaders? Why not have them expelled from doing business in the USA? Why don't our leaders demand that all BP affiliates be able to change their affiliation without recourse?

All of this sounds harsh? Well tell that to the people of the Gulf Cost as their livelihoods and quality of life is hampered. I don't want my leaders to give BP the benefit of the doubt. I don't want my leaders to say after all this time that BP is doing its best. I don't want sympathy for a huge conglomerate for ruining our Gulf Coast. What do I want? Like everyone else - I want them to take care of it..... given an ultimatum.... fix it or we fix it and get out of town....

We have serious problems in this country and need serious people to handle them. Get tough Pres. Obama..... This is your Katrina right now and your proving to be lacking it getting the problem solved just as your predecessor did. Don't worry that if you bang your fist on the table or raise your voice or act like not like a bully but as a leader protecting us from a bully; your followers will still follow you and respect you even more. We voted for you to do the right thing..... BP did this to us..... It is your job Mr. President to stop them..... Yesterday.

Excellent choice. Ms. Warren is a free thinker who will tell it like it is. She pulls no punches and will be a very fresh voice on the Supreme Court. Her brain power will definately rival if not overpower that is Scalia. She has been fair in her assestment and opinions of what is happening on Wall Street and the banking industry. Why Are 25 Hedge Fund Managers Worth 658,000 Teachers?

Even though the term job of being a hedge fund manager is not looked at in high regard; there is a word that the critcis of teachers use to scare people even more, and that is UNION. It seems that people are ok with these hedge fund looters reaping or raping billions from the economy; but get all upset when it comes to teacher union contracts. Although no one wants to give things away; the thought that unions are the all evil in this country is wrong. Most of the time there are negotiations between labor and management to come to an agreeing compromise. As our education system falls apart - and our children are among the less educated - we will create a class system where the rich future hedge funders will run this world and the rest will be looking from the outside in. If we don't do something to improve the education system in this country, we will not be only outsourcing all our services; but possibly our children. Sometimes we do have to sacrifice..... For the future....

What - We are the Problem? Come on - wake up

Could it be that we, the people are the problem? Could it be that we do not want to hear the truth from our politicians? When we finally get a politician who is willing and has the guts to tell us the truth and not what we want to hear; what do we do; wait for someone to tell us what we want to hear - even if we know it's a lie.

We, the voter, are the cause of our leaders giving up their integrity and honor when elected. Why? Cause we want them to lie. The truth hurts. And as Jack Nicholson said in A Few Good Men, "You (we) can't handle the truth"...... And that's the truthhhhhhhhhh.....
